A NEW LIGHT ON DARK MATTER
ARRAKIHS MISSION
The primary object of ARRAKIHS is to image the halos of galaxies in our nearby Universe to unprecedented low surface brightness, providing crucial data to answer unsolved questions in cosmology and galaxy evolution.
THE MISSION
ARRAKIHS is a space mission selected for phase 0/A/B of the European Space Agency F-class program. It is a fast mission currently foreseen to be launched in 2030.
SCIENCE
ARRAKIHS aims to resolve tensions between the predictions from galaxy evolution models with Cold Dark Matter and the observed properties of the haloes of the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies.
CONSORTIUM
Comprising a dedicated international collaboration, our team unites nearly 40 institutions from 14 different countries. Meet our team and organization
The new fast mission in ESA's Science Programme.
ARRAKIHS will be the first space mission dedicated to observing the so called ‘ultra-low surface brightness’ Universe focusing on galaxy haloes.
